Baseball Recap: Caston Wins Going Away Against West Central

Caston won the last time they faced West Central and things went their way on Monday too. The Comets blew past the Trojans 19-6.

Brodie Howard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Howard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Zimpleman, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Gavin Mollenkopf was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Caston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central only posted a batting average of .318.

The win got Caston back to even at 1-1.

Caston and West Central will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Comets will challenge rival Oregon-Davis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Central is set to square off against their familiar foe Frontier at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
