Baseball Recap: Upperman Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

After only one run in their last match, Upperman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Stone Memorial on Saturday. The Bees were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Bees have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Evan Huddleston was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Julian Llano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Upperman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Upperman is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Stone Memorial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Coming up, Upperman will be taking part in a tournament against Lawrence County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Bees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Stone Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
