The Northfield Nighthawks scored first but ultimately less than the Lutheran Lions in their contest on Friday. They took a 32-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. It was the first time this season that Northfield let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Northfield still got an impressive performance from Christian Love, who threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryken Daugaard, who threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Evan Holdridge was another key contributor, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Northfield has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Lutheran, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will challenge Fort Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Lutheran is ranked 33rd).
