The Northwestern Regional Highlanders entered their tilt with the Wamogo Regional Warriors with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Northwestern Regional beat Wamogo Regional on Monday by the very same score they won with last week: 50-39. Given Northwestern Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Wamogo Regional is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Patrick Weaving, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Weaving is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tom Smart, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Northwestern Regional pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Wamogo Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Northwestern Regional will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Housatonic-Wamogo at 7:00 p.m. Housatonic-Wamogo comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Wamogo Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against Shepaug Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Shepaug Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
