Baseball Recap: St. Paul Lutheran Has No Trouble Against Lutheran

St. Paul Lutheran came out on top against Lutheran on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Saints put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Walker Bodenstab made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Micah Truwe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Battista, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.

St. Paul Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, St. Paul Lutheran will venture away from home to face off against Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lutheran, they will challenge Northeast at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
