Six Rivers recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pecatonica/Argyle, who took down 124th ranked Pecatonica/Argyle, 50-10. Tanner Sweeney ran for 155 yards in the win.
Shullsburg's Brett Knautz rumbled for the longest rushing play in Six Rivers this season in his game against Benton/Scales Mound IL last week. Knautz ran for 24 yards on the play and finished with 64 on the day as his team fell to the Zephyrs.
Josh Korte was the best wideout in the league this week as Benton/Scales Mound IL bested Shullsburg. Korte racked up three receptions for 132 yards. Darian Wright helped Benton/Scales Mound IL's passing attack out by catching two balls for 16 yards.
Tim Fritz put up the best numbers through the air as Potosi beat Highland. He finished with 13 completions for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Fritz's favorite target this week was Hunter Leibfried, who caught three passes for 48 yards.
Franki Carlborg was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 182 yards on 35 carries as Matt Wiederholt's team defeated Scott Matye's team. Teammate Stephen Korte added to the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Fritz of the Chieftains is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1185. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, the Cardinals' Caleb Yager has rushed for 1015 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Korte. The Benton/Scales Mound IL star has 10 catches for 393 yards.
Sweeney of the Black Hawk is only 91 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 97 carries Sweeney has accumulated 909 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Warriors take on Pecatonica/Argyle. Black Hawk is in fourth place, while Larry Green's team is in second place.
Cory Milz's team moved up to 164 from 221 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors were able to make the jump by topping the Vikings 50-10.
