The Kingsford Flivvers lost against the Escanaba Eskymos back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kingsford took a 62-47 bruising from Escanaba. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kingsford in their matchups with Escanaba: they've now lost six in a row.
Escanaba was led to victory by Morgan Maki and Keira Maki. Maki scored 15 points along with four steals, while Maki scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was Maki's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Lamarche, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Kingsford has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Escanaba, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingsford will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Dickinson at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Escanaba won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hancock at 7:15 p.m. on January 12th.
