Lakeside has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Geneva Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 720th, while the Eagles are ranked 149th).
On Wednesday, Lakeside came up short against the Red Raiders and fell 45-35. Lakeside has struggled against the Red Raiders recently, as their game on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Geneva scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Conneaut as Geneva made off with a 67-41 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Geneva.
Lakeside's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.4 points per game. As for Geneva, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Lakeside took a serious blow against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 71-39. Can Lakeside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
