After each having a week off, the Flowery Branch Falcons and the Ware County Gators will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Flowery Branch humbled Cedar Shoals with a 42-8 victory. The Falcons have beaten the Jaguars the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Jaguars has come to flipping the script.

Flowery Branch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Griffin Harper, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Harper didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Brooks Recinella also helped out with an impressive 103 receiving yards.
Flowery Branch's run defense was locked in: Cedar Shoals could only muster -0.6 yards per carry. While one picked up at least three total tackles, Harper stood above the rest. He rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Flowery Branch's ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.
Flowery Branch's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Dre Sandler refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. James Hendry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ware County's strategy against Wayne County on Friday. The Gators' defense stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets a 42-0 shutout. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 271st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flowery Branch better focus on containing Isaiah White and Jamir Boyd as the pair were huge in Ware County's win. White threw for 170 yards and one TD, while Boyd rushed for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave White a new career-high in rushing yards (25).
Flowery Branch's record is now 7-3. As for Ware County, their record now sits at 8-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Flowery Branch has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ware County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 197.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
