The East Wake Warriors lost against the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. East Wake took a 26-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Falcons. East Wake has not had much luck with the Golden Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why East Wake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Erica Rawlings. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Rawlings hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Cadyn Edwards, who scored three points along with 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Wake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as C.B. Aycock only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
C.B. Aycock was led to victory by Bree Jones and Keytah Kermode. Jones scored six points along with six steals and two blocks, while Kermode scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
East Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for C.B. Aycock, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Wake will take on the Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. West Johnston is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for C.B. Aycock, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (South Johnston is ranked 307th, while the Golden Falcons are ranked 323rd).
