The Columbus Falcons typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Callaway Chargers proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 win over the Falcons. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Callaway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Ward, who scored 22 points along with seven steals. Ward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Hayes, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Callaway has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-15 record this season. As for Columbus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Callaway's road trip will continue as they head out to face Center Hill at 6:00 p.m. on February 17th. Center Hill will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Callaway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to challenge Olive Branch at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Olive Branch will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Columbus surely won't give up without a fight.
