Softball Recap: Valencia's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Valencia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Grants Pirates by a score of 19-14 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Valencia let Lauren Brandt and Jaden Martinez-Flowers run wild. Brandt scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Martinez-Flowers went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Martinez-Flowers has posted since back in March. Kourtney Tafoya was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-10. As for Grants, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coincidentally, Valencia and Grants will both be playing St. Pius X the next time they take the field. The Pirates will head out to face the Sartans at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Jaguars will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
