Basketball Recap: Regis Skates Past Thorp with Ease

Regis had won six straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 20-2 to make it seven. They blew past the Thorp Cardinals 76-39. The Ramblers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Regis was led to victory by Gemma Gardow and EllaMay Cooper. Gardow posted 20 points, while Cooper had 20 points. Cooper's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points. Izzy Reichert was another key player, putting up 11 points.

As for Thorp, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Regis is ranked 14th).

Despite the loss, Thorp still got an impressive performance from Ashlyn Abramczak, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Abramczak is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game.

Regis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-50 victory against River Falls on the 17th. As for Thorp, they will challenge Greenwood/Granton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
