Two of the top three teams in the MaxPreps South Region Football Computer Rankings will meet in the Mississippi state playoffs this week.
No. 1 Starkville will face No. 3 South Panola in the Class 6A semifinals on Friday. Both teams are 13-0 heading into the contest. The two teams each last won a state championship in 2012 with Starkville winning the 5A crown and South Panola winning the 6A title.
Maryville (Tenn.) made a jump into the Top 10 this week by upping its season record to 13-0. Maryville recently completed the 19th undefeated regular season in school history.
