Northern Nash and Roanoke Rapids are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. Northern Nash will head out on the road to face off against Roanoke Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Northern Nash barely beat Franklinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Northern Nash blew past Franklinton 11-0 on Friday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.
Not much got past Tristan Murray, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Franklinton off the board. Furthermore, Murray didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Marquis Nicholson was a standout: he scored a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ben Edgerton also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Franklinton by a score of 12-8. The win continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Red Rams: they've now won four in a row.
Collin Elias was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Duncan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
The victory made it two in a row for Northern Nash and bumps their season record up to 5-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Roanoke Rapids, their record now sits at 6-4.
Northern Nash came out on top in a nail-biter against Roanoke Rapids in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Does Northern Nash have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roanoke Rapids turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
