Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Has No Trouble Against West Side

St. Joseph lost to West Side back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 16-6 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Patrick Royal was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Stobaugh, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Side only posted an OBP of .407.

St. Joseph's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for West Side, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-5.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph will head out on the road to challenge Baptist Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for West Side, they will take on Concord at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.32 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
