Baseball Recap: Shadow Creek Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Shadow Creek won the last time they faced South Houston and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sharks walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Carlos Sepulveda and Kaz Sides dominated on the mound. Sepulveda pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Sides tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sides has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lubin Rincon was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. He has become a key player for Shadow Creek: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 10-11 otherwise. Jaylan Simmons also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Shadow Creek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Houston struck out seven times.

Shadow Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Houston, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

Looking ahead, Shadow Creek will face off against Sam Rayburn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks are facing the Texans at the right time seeing as the Texans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for South Houston, they will square off against Pearland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oilers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
