Waccamaw is 1-6 against Manning since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Waccamaw Warriors will be playing at home against the Manning Monarchs at 7:30 p.m.
Last Monday, Waccamaw was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-51 to Dillon. While losing is never fun, Waccamaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Dillon is ranked 86th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dutch Kerns, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Connor Hart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Manning scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Loris by a score of 80-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Waccamaw has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 18 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Manning, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Waccamaw came up short against Manning in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Manning's Tavion Carter, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 19 rebounds. Now that Waccamaw knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
