The Treasure Coast Titans will head out to take on the John Carroll Catholic Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Treasure Coast will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Westwood on Tuesday. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 16-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.
Mia La Terra made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kathryn Worley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Leon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Treasure Coast lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, John Carroll Catholic hadn't done well against Vero Beach recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Indians. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Makayla Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 17 Ks.
On the hitting side, Mackenzie Mostoller and Samantha Rychter did most of the damage at the plate: Mostoller went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double, while Rychter scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Isabella Ramirez, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
John Carroll Catholic's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Treasure Coast, their record now sits at 7-9.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Treasure Coast has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like John Carroll Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Treasure Coast couldn't quite get it done against John Carroll Catholic in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 8-5. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
