This season hasn't been kind to the Excel Panthers, who are still winless after their fourth match. They suffered a rough 38-16 defeat at the hands of Leroy on Monday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Excel in their matchups with Leroy: they've now lost six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leroy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chauncey Dixon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Makayla Payne was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Excel bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Leroy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel will square off against Flomaton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Leroy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southern Choctaw at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Southern Choctaw has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
