The Penelope Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Bynum Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Penelope is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
Penelope stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over Oakwood. Given Penelope's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 689th, while Oakwood is ranked 1576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Penelope's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Schwarz led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Schwarz is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games he's played. Dylan Lednicky was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bynum was able to grind out a solid victory over Oakwood on Friday, taking the game 44-33.
Penelope's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Bynum, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.
Everything went Penelope's way against Bynum in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Penelope made off with a 65-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Penelope since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
