Baseball Recap: Bishop Stang Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cardinal Spellman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Stang). They blew past the Cardinal Spellman Cardinals 18-4 on Monday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Devin Lord looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brock Winslow was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Tommy Guenette was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Bishop Stang always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Spellman only posted an OBP of .367.

Bishop Stang's record is now 11-1. As for Cardinal Spellman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Stang will face off against Arlington Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cardinal Spellman, they will take on Rockland at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
