The Poudre Community Academy Warriors were the 74-41 winner over the Denver Academy Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Poudre Community Academy was outmatched by Denver Academy on the road and fell 75-45.
Despite the loss, Poudre Community Academy still got an impressive performance from Ian Voetelink, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 29 rebounds.
Nolan Monasch went supernova for Denver Academy, scoring 28 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Monasch has scored at least 25% of Denver Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Stanley, who scored 16 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Poudre Community Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Denver Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre Community Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Timnath at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Denver Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Cripple Creek-Victor at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
