Even though the Pamlico County Hurricanes scored an imposing 70 points on Thursday, the Martin County Knights still came out on top. Martin County managed a 75-70 victory over Pamlico County. For Martin County, this counts as revenge for the 53-39 loss Pamlico County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Martin County found their leader in underclassman Jordan Matthewson, who scored 33 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquavion Sheppard, who scored 13 points.
Martin County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Pamlico County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Martin County will take on North East Carolina Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North East Carolina Prep is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Pamlico County, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lejeune at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Lejeune is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
