Denton is 1-6 against Colleyville Heritage since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Denton Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Colleyville Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Denton came into Friday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Richland 51-32 on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Thomas, who scored 14 points. Ethan Sheats was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Colleyville Heritage came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 victory over Grapevine. Given Colleyville Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Grapevine is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colleyville Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bodey Weaver, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weaver has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cash Gardner, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Denton's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-22. As for Colleyville Heritage, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-5.
Denton came up short against Colleyville Heritage when the teams last played back in January, falling 54-41. Can Denton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
