It was a good run, but the Johnson Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 73-57 bruising from Lake Travis. Johnson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Travis apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Adrian Mathis was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with four steals for Lake Travis. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Chas Biegel was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists.
Johnson's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 19-5. As for Lake Travis, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Johnson will take on Del Valle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Valle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while Johnson is ranked 44th). As for Lake Travis, they will head out on the road to face off against Akins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Akins is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
