Baseball Recap: Tallwood Comes Up Short

Tallwood extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Ocean Lakes Dolphins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dolphins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in March.

As for Ocean Lakes, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ocean Lakes, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Ocean Lakes' part, Tre Hamilton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Hamilton a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Aiden Skalski looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Connor Mais was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Gocio, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Looking ahead, Tallwood will be playing in front of their home fans against First Colonial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ocean Lakes, they will venture away from home to square off against Kellam at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Dolphins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
