Two dominant guards in Nahallie Turnley and McKayela Tanner are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Dublin Fighting Irish will look to defend their home court on Friday against the East Laurens Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 25 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Dublin proved on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson County 57-24 at home. With Dublin ahead 36-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Dublin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caitlyn Nesbitt led the charge by scoring 12 points along with seven steals. Nesbitt hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Turnley, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Laurens took their matchup on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 61-29 win over Wheeler County. Given East Laurens' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Wheeler County is ranked 485th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dublin's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for East Laurens, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Dublin came up short against East Laurens in their previous meeting back in January, falling 49-42. Will Dublin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
