It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Greenwood Eagles can now relate to. They were outmatched by Northwestern on the road and fell 55-7. Greenwood has struggled against Northwestern recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Northwestern was led to victory by Finley Polk and Turbo Richard. Polk threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns, while Richard rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Polk is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Jayden Woods got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Northwestern's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Danijay McMullen and his three sacks.
Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Northwestern, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Greenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwestern will stay at home for another week and welcome Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Greenville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
