After flying high against the Catalina Trojans last Monday, the Palo Verde Titans came back down to earth. Palo Verde fell 58-48 to San Tan Foothills on Wednesday. Palo Verde found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Palo Verde lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gaby Oliver. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Oliver is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Guerrero, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Tan Foothills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cienna Witcher, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Witcher has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Williams, who scored 17 points.
Palo Verde's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-20. As for San Tan Foothills, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18.
Palo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Tan Foothills, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gilbert Christian at 5:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Gilbert Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Monday.
