The Gaither Cowboys entered their tilt with the Sumner Stingrays with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Gaither snuck past Sumner with a 59-53 victory on Tuesday. For Gaither, this counts as revenge for the 78-41 loss Sumner walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gaither to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rico Kindred, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jayce Humphries, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Sumner lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Williams. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Dushing, who scored 11 points.
Gaither has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Sumner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.
Gaither's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spoto at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Spoto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Saturday. As for Sumner, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Freedom at 7:00 p.m.
