The Central Cabarrus Vikings will face off against the Lake Norman Charter Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Central Cabarrus turned things around against South Rowan on Thursday. They blew past the Raiders 8-1. That seven run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Andre Vaughn made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Vaughn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Tellis Bumgarner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Central Cabarrus is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-11 otherwise.
Vaughn wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Parsons, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Parsons posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Bryson Pate also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman Charter got the win against Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Central Cabarrus, Lake Norman Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Trevor Cook. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Cook has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, David Wignot was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Corey Bean was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Lake Norman Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Lake Norman Charter and bumps their season record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Central Cabarrus, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-12.
Central Cabarrus might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Lake Norman Charter in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
