It was a good run, but the Gadsden City Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Briarwood Christian. Gadsden City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Gadsden City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaedyn Sharp, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Sharp pulled down eight or more rebounds. Aniyah Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Gadsden City's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Briarwood Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Gadsden City will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Oxford is ranked 67th, while the Titans are ranked 79th). Briarwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
