1A-2 Region I District 3 recap October 22, 2013
Springlake-Earth scaled the state rankings by moving to 856 from 909 this week, the biggest jump in 1A-2 Region I District 3. The Wolverines climbed the ranks as a result of besting Sudan 27-7.
Springlake-Earth made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,485 from 10,194. The advance stemmed from a 27-7 victory over the Hornets last week.
John Caffey's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Elijah Ramon threw for 96 and 1 touchdown and Zach Riley had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Ramon contributed 73 yards. J.T. Weldon helped Springlake-Earth's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.
Riley was the best wideout in the league this week as the Wolverines bested Sudan. Riley tallied 2 receptions for 50 yards. Weldon helped Springlake-Earth's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.
Springlake-Earth's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ramon has thrown for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Riley has 8 catches for 209 yards. Ramon also leads the league in rushing with 515 yards.
The top two teams in 1A-2 Region I District 3 will face off this week when first place Farwell takes on second place Sudan.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hornets take on Farwell. Sudan has allowed 156 points this season, while the Steers have given up 170.
Farwell led the league in scoring this week by notching 34 points on Morton.
