The Axtell Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Pawnee City at home to the tune of 56-28. The win was some much needed relief for Axtell as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Despite the defeat, Pawnee City saw an underclassman step up: Ericca Gyhra scored five points. Gyhra continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Axtell's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Pawnee City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Axtell will face off against Washington County on Friday. Axtell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Pawnee City is on the road again on Thursday and plays Palmyra at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Pawnee City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
