Hiawatha is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Indian Creek on Monday. They came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 15-1.
For Indian Creek's part, MaKenna Barshinger and Avery Boehne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barshinger struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Boehne tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Barshinger went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Boehne went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Boehne a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mckenzie Greer was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Indian Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win made it two in a row for Indian Creek and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Hiawatha, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
