The Dymally Challengers will be playing at home against the Hawkins Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Dymally has not done well against View Park recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dymally snuck past View Park with a 58-53 win. The victory was just what Dymally needed coming off of a 80-38 defeat in their prior matchup.
Amonte Mobley was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mendoza, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hawkins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 80-48 victory over Port of Los Angeles on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Hawkins has posted since November 18, 2023.
Hawkins relied on the efforts of Desmaj Murphy, who scored 19 points, and De'Meiko Crawford, who scored 24 points. Elijah Boston was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dymally's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Hawkins, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Dymally might still be hurting after the 70-48 defeat they got from Hawkins in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Crawford, who scored 30 points. Now that Dymally knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
