AAAAA Region 2 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Northside extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 2 this week by beating Warner Robins, 35-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Eagles.
Jones County took down Houston County 63-42 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Greenbrier's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Adam Sasser threw for 149 and two touchdowns and Clint Hardy had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Trevor Burns chipped in 65 yards. Jamal Richard helped Greenbrier's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Isaac Patrick made the biggest impact on defense this week as Evans fell to Lakeside. The senior forced two fumbles and recorded one fumble.
Greenbrier's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolfpack feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Luke Otstot has thrown for 422 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Gregory Wilson has 17 catches for 204 yards. Jeremy Harden leads the league in rushing with 461 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Demons take on the Panthers. As it stands, Warner Robins is in second, while Lakeside is in fourth.
The Greyhounds made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,613 from 2,857. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 63-42 victory over the Bears last week.
