Mauldin and Woodmont are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Mauldin Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woodmont Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mauldin will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak alive.
Mauldin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Hillcrest, posting a 73-12 win at home. That 61 points margin sets a new team best for Mauldin this season.
Mauldin found their leader in underclassman Zara Leamon, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Leamon is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Delilah Soltys, who scored eight points along with seven steals.
Woodmont fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 39-32 win over Travelers Rest on Thursday.
Mauldin's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Woodmont, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.
Mauldin took their win against Woodmont in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 58-35. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Woodmont's Anaya Muhammad, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four blocks. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Mauldin to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
