North Eugene and the Millers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The North Eugene Highlanders will be playing at home against the Springfield Millers at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. North Eugene will be looking to keep their 14-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, North Eugene gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Eagle Point 67-43. Given North Eugene's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Eagles are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Eugene's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias McKinnis, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that McKinnis posted eight or more assists. India Mohiuddin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Springfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crater. Springfield has struggled against the Comets recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
North Eugene's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Springfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for North Eugene against the Millers in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 75-35 victory. Will North Eugene repeat their success, or do the Millers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
