Millennium is 0-5 against Xavier College Prep since February of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gators at 3:45 p.m. Millennium will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Millennium lost 16-6 to Corona del Sol on Thursday.
Millennium saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte McCloskey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was McCloskey's first of the season. Charlotte Apodaca was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Xavier College Prep faced Desert Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Gators were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Thunder. Considering the Gators have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Angie Falls was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Sariah McNabb was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Latvaaho, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Xavier College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Vista only posted a batting average of .214.
Xavier College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Millennium, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millennium hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Xavier College Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millennium came up short against Xavier College Prep in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, falling 9-5. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
