There's no place like home for the Munroe Bobcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 71-70 victory over Gadsden County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Munroe had a senior duo take command as Karlton Knight scored 24 points and Leith Kenon scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kenon is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Keishawn Mashburn was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Gadsden County lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Nasir Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Mosley, who scored 19 points.
Munroe's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Gadsden County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Munroe will take on Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gadsden County, they will be playing at home against Crossroad Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
