The Riverside Rangers will head out to square off against the Ysleta Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Riverside beats Ysleta with 12 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Rangers beat Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rangers.
Kaylee Castro was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Castro was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Riverside let Marli Estrada and Hailie Valdivia run wild. Estrada went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Valdivia went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was August Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 13-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Ysleta gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Austin as they made off with a 22-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Rozlynn Gonzalez and Savannah Jurado did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Jurado fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those home runs were Gonzalez's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cienna Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Riverside's record now sits at 14-11. As for Ysleta, their record is now 15-13.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. However, it's not like Ysleta struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Ysleta in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
