Sandusky is 8-2 against Clyde since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sandusky Blue Streaks will head out on the road to face off against the Clyde Fliers at 7:30 p.m. Sandusky is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Perkins scored an imposing 75 points on Saturday, Sandusky still came out on top. Sandusky had just enough and edged Perkins out 77-75.
Amir Aaron continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with five steals. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Henlon, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Clyde came up short against Norwalk on Friday and fell 58-46. While losing is never fun, Clyde can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Norwalk is ranked 266th).
Despite the loss, Clyde got a solid performance out of Brayden Olson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The matchup was Olson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kam Shortridge, who scored ten points.
Clyde struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sandusky's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Clyde, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Sandusky have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Clyde, though, as they've been averaging only 24.2 rebounds per game. Given Sandusky's sizeable advantage in that area, Clyde will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything went Sandusky's way against Clyde in their previous matchup back in January as Sandusky made off with a 87-67 victory. Will Sandusky repeat their success, or does Clyde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
