They strolled past Fort Wayne Wayne with points to spare, taking the game 69-54. Given Whitko's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Fort Wayne Wayne is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whitko got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Stonebraker out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Stonebraker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Fort Wayne Wayne's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khalise Collins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Layla Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Whitko's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitko will take on Maconaquah at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Maconaquah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Tuesday. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they will be playing at home against Fort Wayne Northrop at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
