Harrison is 0-8 against Shepherd since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Harrison took an eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Gladwin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Flying G's 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Matthew Latunski, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last 13 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh O'Day, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Shepherd duked it out with Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 15-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Bryce Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaden Yuncker was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Sam King was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Shepherd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ogemaw Heights only posted an OBP of .261.
Shepherd's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Harrison, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Harrison suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Shepherd when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
