Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Academy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pinecrest Academy came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 62-55 win over the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints. For the Paladins, this counts as revenge for the 64-59 victory the Saints walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Pinecrest Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joe Frain led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. Frain is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Keyman, who posted 13 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Micah Strech, who earned five points in addition to ten assists and eight rebounds. Those ten assists gave Strech a new career-high. Mason West was another key player, putting up 14 points and five boards.

Pinecrest Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-6.

Pinecrest Academy has already played their next game, a 55-53 win against Cherokee Christian on the 17th. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they will take on The King's Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.9 points per game this season.
