Pawnee Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight  defeat  dating back to last season. They received a  blow  as they fell  50-36 to the Deerfield Spartans. The Tigers were not able to make up for their  loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting  back in February of 2024.

 Despite the  defeat, Pawnee Heights had strong showings from  Clayton Hammeke, who  went 9 for 16  en route to 19  points and three  steals, and  Brady Carlson, who  dropped  a double-double with 12 points and ten  rebounds. Hammeke's evening made it three games in a row in which  he has scored at least 19 points.
 Deerfield found their leader in sophomore  Cristian Botello, who  went 5 of 12  to rack up 15 points along with six  steals and five  boards. Botello is becoming a predictor of Deerfield's success: when he posts  at  least three  steals the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of  Colten Musil, who  went 5 for 8  on his way to 11  points.
Pawnee Heights' loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Deerfield, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when  the Tigers  face off against  the Wildcats at 8:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Deerfield, they will face off against Greeley County on Friday. Deerfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7  points per game  this season.
