Portal is 9-1 against Jenkins County since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Portal Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Jenkins County War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Portal will be looking to keep their 25-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Portal stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They really took it to Emanuel County Institute for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-39 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-18.
Portal got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Thomas out in front who scored 25 points along with two steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marion Tremble, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Jenkins County aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Wednesday extended their overall winning streak to five. They came out on top against McIntosh County Academy by a score of 60-52.
Portal's win bumped their record up to 23-1. As for Jenkins County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Portal came out on top in a nail-biter against Jenkins County in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 59-56. Will Portal repeat their success, or does Jenkins County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
