Isaiah Ene had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 201 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 61 yards and one touchdown. He has become a key player for Granite Bay: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Darnell Turner was in the mix as well, providing the Grizzlies with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Granite Bay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
Another reason for the win was Granite Bay's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Christopher Ledell was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Rocklin was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 19-8 victory over Del Oro. The win was some much needed relief for the Thunder as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Rocklin's win came from a few key players Granite Bay will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Greyson Smith, who picked up 69 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Gered Linder, who rushed for 122 yards.
Rocklin now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Granite Bay, their record is now 8-3.
Granite Bay was able to grind out a solid victory over Rocklin when the teams last played back in October, winning 29-20. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Thunder's Reeve Slone, who threw for 248 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 58 yards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Grizzlies still be able to contain Slone? There's only one way to find out.
